Crown and Bridge

When Are Dental Crowns and Bridges Used?

Crowns and bridges are used to correct dental problems while protecting and strengthening your natural teeth. Dental crowns can be used to correct a number of issues and have many applications.

  • Broken or fractured teeth
  • Severely decayed teeth
  • Damaged fillings
  • Large, discolored fillings
  • Teeth that have had root canal treatment

What is a crown?

When you have a damaged natural tooth a dental crown is custom-made to fit over your damaged tooth.

A crown restores the function of the tooth and provides additional strength and support.

At Amazing Dental Solutions our crowns and bridges are made of porcelain zirconia because of its natural appearance and durability.

What is a bridge?

A bridge is one of the methods we use at Amazing Dental Solutions to fill the void left by a missing tooth. A bridge is made as a single unit that is held in place by crowns on the adjacent teeth. A dental bridge not only improves your appearance but also prevents surrounding teeth from shifting into the open space, which can lead to unhealthy bite relationships and TMJ problems.

What Does Placing a Crown or Bridge Involve?

A dental crown or bridge is typically placed within two visits. The patient is able to leave with a temporary crown or bridge after the first visit. First we remove any decay from your natural tooth and prepare the tooth to receive the temporary restoration. We then take impressions of your teeth for your permanent crown or bridge. The impressions are sent to a special dental lab for your custom shade match. After that time a return visit to our office is scheduled to remove the temporary crown or bridge and place the final porcelain zirconia restoration. With proper hygiene and oral health, your new restoration will last for many years to come!
